I found COEM's products to be ridiculously low priced for what they are, and they've provided top-notch customer service to boot. I'll not hesitate to buy again, and definitely a retailer I'll readily recommend to anyone!

Thanks once again, and; when the time comes for me to think for a DAC upgrade, I will truly consider your next NOS modified masterpiece. It has been a real pleasure for me to experience your excellent customer service, and an exemplary effort on modifying original Lite DAC-AH. You guys should be proud :).

Over the years of headphone listening, I was trying to discover the best value-for-money philosophy in this hobby, in which this appears to be only offered (magically) by a small number of manufacturers. COEM Audio has helped me a lot in the past - turning from what seems to be an entirely expensive outlook on Hi-Fi into a more 'realist' insight into believing that this hobby should always be well justified without embracing others' exaggerated costs. COEM Audio was what introduced me into Chinese Hi-Fi & the qualities of Non-Oversampling.

For so long ~ I have pursued two most important sonic qualities in a component to match my Audio Technica W5000 headphone ~ enduring musicality, and a sense of 'distance'. This is where I believe the modified non-oversampling DAC Lite DAC AH CAA Mod (May 2007) truly excels.

From exactly all 14 CD Players (including one in $15K category); all in which I have personally auditioned (with my own music and my tube headamp) across 7 months ~ I am a living evidence that the Lite DAC-AH CAA 2007 Mod gives one sonic signature that intimately serves the music; not wildly analytical or those of technically impressive sound within a short audition (in other words ~ brightness/fatigue in which my ears are extremely cautious). Not straight in my face, but pleasantly in front of me.

I would like to also express my thanks for the honesty, and sincerity behind the customer service of COEM Audio Australia. They have certainly always been first rate, and I would no doubt recommending them for anyone who are looking into the same path as I have started ~ value for money philosophy, and discovering the magic of non-oversampling.

Again, I cannot simply thank you enough for the exemplary modification on the Lite DAC. It simply shows something humbly but a truly different listening experience.

I've recently bought an upgraded LiTe DAC CAA Mod MkII with a superseded Dussun D99 Amp from COEM Audio. They arrived a bit over a week ago, and having had them set up and running for a week now, I thought I'd write a quick review!

In short, the sound is sheer awesomeness!

Connection from the PC mobo out to DAC is via a COEM audio DG-1 Coax cable. I am not running a dedicated sound-card; I debated whether or not to go down this route, but whilst I do game, most of my time on the computer is work-related, hence I listen to a lot of music. For this reason, the dedicated DAC running from the mobo coax out seemed to be a better choice.

The sound is simply a world of difference from either headphones or the cheap logitech speakers I had been using. All music is ripped to FLAC via DBPoweramp (very simple, easy to use program - recommended!), and it was amazing hearing music through these for the first time. The amp does not seem to colour the music at all; all sounds are the same timbre when heard through my home stereo. I have never had a soundstage listening to computer music before, but now I can close my eyes and hear the individual instruments as well as picture them.... awesome. Clear and detailed highs, full bodied mid-range and even excellent bass (obviously helped by the 6" drivers) with no need for any sub-woofer action. Volume can easily be raised to high enough to be heard when outside the house without clipping, and the flexibility of being able to use speakers or headphones is nice. Low volume sounds are exactly the same as high - full detail, comfortable and zero-stress listening pleasure.... The sound is not sharp, harsh or in any way distracting from the actual music being listened to; absolutely superb. No remote for the amp, but then again as it sits on the desk within arms reach, why bother?

I would have to say I thought long and hard about this purchase, especially whether it was worth the $$ for a dedicated DAC and an amp. All I can say now is that this is some of the best 'computer' gear I've laid out money for... being able to work and listen to quality music regardless of volume levels makes life just that much better!

I can't compare this set-up to a dedicated on-board one, as I didn't go that route, but I can say if you are considering going this way save the $$ for the upgrade for the LiTe DAC and get a decent amp and speakers - you will be amazed by hearing notes that start and stop crisply, along with bass that doesn't sound muddy or rumble and blur... there is no comparison between this and 'computer speakers' running from onboard sound.

Big reccommendation to John from COEM as well - great service, advice and quick delivery, along with a good range of products!

-Jon
