Storm Audio Pandora
Product Images
The Pandora DAC from Storm Audio is a world-class Non-Over Sampling (NOS) Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) which will allow you to rediscover your digital music collection. Whether you use a CD Player, DVD Player, Digital Media Jukebox or PC as your source, the Pandora will bring new life to your music.
The Pandora is a NOS DAC with no digital filters and is based loosely on the theories of Mr. Ryohei Kusunoki. Non-Over Sampling DACs have a presentation that most find quite different to the more common Over-Sampling (OS) DACs. They are known for presenting a large expansive soundstage and depth, an easy free-flowing feel to the music, with none of the harshness often associated with digital music. The Pandora uses custom programmable logic micro-controllers, making it extremely flexible and easy to upgrade. COEM Audio Australia can provide software updates.
The Pandora provides a vast improvement over the analog outputs of most digital sources. Storm Audio has incorporated many options and functions into the Pandora that will ensure that the system will perform at its best.
The Pandora can be upgraded to the 16x TDA1543 version for an extra $130, and the external battery power supply will be available shortly for $200.
- Dual transformer power supply – most electronic components have just one power supply. The Pandora has two high quality plastic enclosed transformers which provide power to the digital and anolog circuits individually. Each transformer has numerous independant high quality voltage regulators. Low noise shunt regulators are also applied to each DAC chip. Total of 14 voltage regulators are used in the Pandora.
- Individual crystal cloks for 44.1kHz and its factors, and 48kHz and its factors.
- Built-in PLL (Phase Locked Loop) reclocking, used when the digital transport has a poor clock signal.
- Each DAC has 8 (or 16) Philips TDA1543 D/A Conversion chips which have been carefully examined and matched according to their measurements.
- High quality connectors used throughout
- Sanyo OS-Con capacitors are used in the Pandora, OS stand for Organic Semiconductor. It is third generation in capacitor technology. With its outstanding performance, it is ideal for audio application.
- Passive I/V stage is used in the Pandora, the paralleled TDA1543 supplies enough voltage output at standard line level. The output capacitor used is the SA series from ClarityCap, which is the top-of-the-line from ClarityCap.
- Available in Silver or Black finish.
