The ICEBlock M5001 monoblock amplifier is based on the ASP-500 ICEPower® unit from Bang & Olufsen and swaddled neatly in our built-to-order, "Melissa" platform enclosure. It has been called clean, brutish, and muscular - outputing 500 watts into 4 ohms, 250 watts into 8 ohms. You will find ASP-500 and ASP-1000 based amplifiers from vendors such as Jeff Rowland, Bel Canto, Wyred4Sound, and many others. For clean, quiet, power, nothing beats ICEPower®. Priced per pair. What makes our ICEPower different and better...? The base ASP-500 module is wonderful, but is as widely hated as it is loved. We teamed our ICEBlock amplifier with Dodd Audio to address the No. 1 problem mentioned by ICEPower owners: the recessed mid-range. Imagine the indefatigable power and the killer low end of ICEPower, warmed up with the rich (but not mushy) mid-range that nobody nobody does better than Gary Dodd. Also, input impedence is raised to 100kohms which is what most pre-amps want to see. Inside each ICEBlock is a tuned version of Gary's tube input buffer, offered in stock form with JJ 12AX7 pre-amplifier tubes. We've tried many tubes with the unit, suffice to say that this is a match made in heaven. With Gary's secret sauce under the covers (he pots every module, don't ask what's inside), we just may have the best sounding high-power monoblocks ever made and certainly for the money. In addition to Gary's tubes, these amps are fully loaded. They feature T-Copper RCA jacks (center pins), T-Copper Propeller Posts, custom gold-plated XLR jacks, Sonicaps, and cryo-treated Auric hookup wire on the speaker outputs. Also, they are hand-assembled and tested in the USA. ICEPower amps take around 100 hours to break in. Reviews Every unit is burned in for 48 hours and assembled to order.
